American Geological Institute (AGI) Minority Participation Program

Since 1972, the American Geological Institute has administered the Minority Participation Program, which strives to maintain and increase incrementally the number of underrepresented ethnic-minority students in the geosciences. Recipients of AGI Minority Geoscience Scholarships are provided with financial awards ranging from $500 to $3,000 and given the opportunity to interact with a mentor from the geoscience community.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens; enrolled as a continuing undergraduate student full-time; demonstrate financial need; and have declared a major in geology, geophysics, geochemistry, hydrology, meteorology, physical oceanography, planetary geology, or earth-science education. This program does not support students in other natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering. Candidates must also identify themselves as an ethnic-minority, which includes Black, Hispanic, and Native American (American Indian, Eskimo, Hawaiian, or Samoan) applicants. American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) is the national professional organization for certified public accountants, with a membership of more than 331,000. The AICPA Scholarships for Minority Accounting Students provides competitive awards of up to $5000 to outstanding full- time undergraduate minority students to encourage the selection of accounting as a major, entry into the profession and ultimately achieving the CPA designation. Undergraduate students must have completed at least 30 semester hours or equivalent of college work, with at least six hours in accounting. Applicants must have at least a 3.3 GPA. For purposes of this program, the AICPA defines minority students as those of Black, Native American, Pacific Island races, or of Hispanic ethnic origin. All applicants must be U.S. citizens. American Physical Therapy Association - Minority Scholarship Award

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) offers scholarships ranging from $2500-$6000 to undergraduates demonstrating academic excellence as well as strong potential towards a career as a professional physical therapist. This award is for U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are African-Americans, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, Hispanics, or American Indians. The deadline is December 1 st . APSANET Minority Fellows Program

The APSANET Minority Fellows program is designed primarily for minority students applying to a doctoral program in political science. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and either African American, Latino/a, or Native American. Candidates must also demonstrate an interest in teaching and potential for research in political science, and have financial need. The deadline for APSANET is October 31st . Association on American Indian Affairs

Association on American Indian Affairs (AAIA) offers a variety of different scholarships to students of American Indian and Alaskan descent. Candidates must be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate or graduate student. Applications will be accepted from April 17th -July 17th. Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowships for Minorities

The Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowships provide up to $24,000 annually for three years of support to minorities planning to pursue doctoral degrees. The eligible fields of study include behavioral and social sciences, literature, history, philosophy, earth and life sciences, engineering, mathematics and computer science. 60 fellowships are awarded annually. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, and either an Alaskan Native, an African American, Mexican American, Native American, Native Pacific Islander, or Puerto Rican. William Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship for Minority Students

The fellowship, which is based on academic excellence and need, is open to both undergraduate and graduate students who are members of minority groups. The fellowship seeks to introduce a diverse group of students to issues relating to philanthropy, volunteerism, and nonprofit organizations. The ideal candidate for this fellowship is a highly motivated continuing graduate or undergraduate student from an underrepresented community with outstanding research and writing skills and a background in social sciences or humanities. Application deadline varies per internship term. HRSA Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students

The Department of Health and Human Services (HRSA) Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students program provides scholarships to full-time, financially needy students from disadvantaged backgrounds, enrolled in health professions and nursing programs. Applicants must apply for this scholarship at the student financial aid office of their school. The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF)

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) offers scholarships ranging from $1000-$3000 to applicants demonstrating academic excellence, strong leadership abilities, and financial need. HSF is the nation's leading Hispanic educational organization. HSF offers different scholarship programs for students of various educational backgrounds. All applicants must of at least half Hispanic background (one parent fully Hispanic, or each parent half Hispanic) and be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents (with proof of residency). Candidates must also be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate or graduate student, and have at least a 2.7 GPA. Hispanic Scholarship Fund/ McNamara Family Creative Arts Project Grant

In partnership with the McNamara Family Foundation, this program provides financial resources to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled full-time in a creative arts related field (media, film, performing arts, communications, writing, and others) to assist them in beginning and completing an art project. Grants will range from $5,000 to $20,000.  Applicants must be of Hispanic heritage, a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident, have at least a 3.0 gpa, and apply for FAFSA.  The deadline is in March.  For more information, visit the HSF/McNamara website or contact the Office of Undergraduate Research

Institute for International Public Policy Undergraduate Fellowship (IIPP)

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, IIPP seeks to enhance U.S. national security, global competitiveness and leadership by promoting excellence, international service and cultural competence among a more diverse cross-section of the American citizenry. The IIPP Fellowship was developed for minority college students, who are underrepresented in careers in international affairs. The application deadline is in March. La Unidad Latina Foundation

La Unidad Latina Foundation is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization established to award scholarship grants to worthy and needy students for the pursuit of higher education, support and encourage participation in educational programs and activities, and support community programs which aid in the civic empowerment and educational improvement of the Latino community. Scholarships are available on a competitive basis to undergraduate four-year college, and graduate students of Hispanic background. Application deadlines are February for the spring deadline and October for the fall deadline. Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Fellowship

The Minority Fellowship Program’s (MFP) objective is to increase the knowledge of issues related to ethnic minority mental health and to improve the quality of mental health treatment delivered to ethnic minority populations. The MFP supports the training of mental health service providers or practitioners pursuing doctoral degrees, or those who will provide services in the field of substance abuse treatment or substance abuse prevention. African American, Alaskan Native, American Indian, Asian American, Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander students are especially encouraged to apply. NAACP Scholarships

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) offers a variety of awards for students in business, education, engineering, and the sciences.  There are also scholarships for undergraduates in their first year of college and applicants with financial need.  To find out more information on the particular awards and deadlines, visit their website or contact the Office of Undergraduate Research.

NABA Scholarship Program

The National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) is a national membership organization with the primary purpose of developing, encouraging, and serving as a resource for greater participation by African Americans and other minorities in the accounting profession. NABA makes available student scholarships at both the national and local levels. Scholarships are awarded to deserving and successful college students to assist in furthering their education. Awards range from $500-$6000. Candidates should have at least a 3.3 GPA overall and at least a 3.5 GPA in accounting. Applicants must also be an ethnic minority who is an undergraduate business major (accounting, finance, information systems, marketing, etc.), and be a paid NABA member for the current fiscal year. NACME Scholars Program

The National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME) Scholars Program offers scholarships in order to provide leadership and support for the national effort to increase the representation of successful African American, American Indian and Latino women and men in engineering and technology, math- and science-based careers. NIAF Scholarships

The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) offers several scholarships for Italian Americans or students studying Italian language and studies.  Applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.  Scholarship awards range from $2,500-$10,000. NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program for Individuals from Disadvantaged Backgrounds

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) offers an undergraduate scholarship to help students from disadvantages backgrounds pursue educational and career opportunities in biomedical, behavioral and social science health-related research. NPSC Fellowships

The National Physical Science Consortium Fellowship (NPSC) offers graduate fellowships to students interested in earning a Ph.D. in the physical sciences and related engineering fields. The emphasis for recruitment of applications for the NPSC is from historically underrepresented minorities and women. The fellowship funds the first 2-3 years of graduate school, with the possibility for renewal of funding (maximum funding is duration of 6 years not to exceed $200,000.). UNCF - Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarship

The College Fund/UNCF and The Merck Company Foundation have established scholarship awards for outstanding African American students pursuing studies and careers in the field of biomedical research. The fellowship consists of a summer internship prior to recipients' senior year and second summer internship upon graduation. The fellowship provides up to $35,000 for the senior year and the summer internships. For more information, visit the UNCF-Merck website or contact the Office of Undergraduate Research.

Xerox Technical Minority Scholarship

The Xerox Technical Minority Scholarship program provides funding to minority students enrolled in one of the technical sciences or engineering disciples at the bachelor level or above.  It was developed to demonstrate the strong commitment by Xerox to provide financial support and meaningful experiences for minorities.
